  1. A study on skills in demand in the construction, domestic work and hospitality sectors in selected GCC countries vis-a-vis skills, qualification and accreditation of low- and semi skilled migrant workers from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan

    The study will consist of two separate, but linked components connecting three countries of destination in GCC (to be confirmed) and origin (Nepal, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh).

    Migrant workers and returning migrants are increasingly turning to cooperatives and other social and solidarity economy (SSE) enterprises to ensure they have full access to the development benefits of labour migration. In light of these trends, the ILO's Labour Migration Branch (MIGRANT) and the ILO's Cooperatives unit (COOP) have been collaborating on an effort to improve understanding and policies benefiting access of migrant workers to cooperatives and other forms of SSE enterprises that can enhance livelihoods, social protection and economic development in the context of migrants' return and reintegration.
