  1. Interview with Michele Pellegrini: The experience of a social cooperative, Cadore in Italy

    The ILO and its International Training Centre in Turin, mark ten-years of organizing the Academy on the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE). Since 2010, more than 1,200 participants from all continents participated in the 11 editions of the academy. To mark this occasion, the ILO’s Cooperatives Unit is conducting a series of interviews that features colleagues and experts who have been closely engaged in making the last eleven editions of the ILO Academy on SSE possible. In these interviews, they reflect on their experiences and also share their thoughts on the current COVID-19 crisis and post-crisis situation.

    Four cooperative practitioners reflected on the current situation of gender equality within the cooperative movement, the role cooperatives can play, and the challenges they face in advancing gender equality. Their presentations highlighted the implications of COVID-19 on women in cooperatives and emerging responses. Over 160 people from around the world participated in the webinar.

  4. ILO contributes to a preparatory meeting of an international event “The Economy of Francesco” in Assisi, Italy

    An ILO COOP staff member participated in a preparatory meeting of an international event to be convened by Pope Francis and presented how the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) can contribute to building a sustainable production and consumption model.

  5. The 2019 ITC-ILO Rural Academy includes an elective on cooperatives

    Co-organized by the ILO’s Cooperatives Unit and its partner, Agriterra, the elective focused on a range of topics including the role of cooperatives in rural development, basics of the cooperative business model and methodologies for cooperative development.

  6. UN Task Force on SSE discusses its priorities at a retreat in Trento

    Members and observers of the UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE) met in Trento to discuss key issues and priorities, including a possible UN Resolution on the SSE.
