Submitting amendments to the proposals for amendment to the Code of the MLC, 2006
Submitting amendments to the proposals for amendment to the Code of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, as amended (MLC, 2006) will be done through an online tool on 3 May 2022.
Accessing the tool
Government representatives: the tool may be accessed by accredited Government representatives or their substitutes by entering the individual email address that was indicated at the time of accreditation for participation in the Meeting, and the PIN code that each participant will receive on 2 May.If you have not received the code by 3 May 2022 at 9 a.m. (Geneva time), please contact the Secretariat (mlcstc@ilo.org).
Government representatives are reminded that amendments must be seconded by at least one other member at the latest when the amendment is discussed, in order to be considered.
Seafarer and Shipowner representatives: the submission of amendments is centralized through the groups’ secretariats, which will be provided with access codes on 2 May.
When to submit amendments
The online tool will be available for use on Tuesday 3 May 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Geneva time).Kindly note that amendments may only be submitted in English, French or Spanish.
When preparing the amendments it is particularly important to ensure that:
- the purpose of the amendment is clear and that the amendment is consistent with the structure of the text and with the terminology of the MLC,2006;
- amendments which relate to two or more distinct concepts should be split into two or more amendments to facilitate discussion.
A two-step process
- Submission: The submission of amendments will be possible on Tuesday 3 May 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Geneva time).
- Validation: For amendments to be processed, they must be validated by the Secretariat.
