Taxes and gender gap in employment wages

LSE Professor Rachel Ngai will present her recent paper on gender gaps, taxes, subsidies and working hours

Rachel Ngai is an associate professor at the London School of Economics, a fellow for the Centre for Economic Policy Research and a member of the Centre for Macroeconomics. Her research focuses on gender gaps, structural change, working time, economic growth and taxes. She will present her recent paper on gender gaps, taxes, subsidies and working hours. The paper shows that taxes and social subsidies on family care can account for a substantial fraction of the observed cross-country differences in market hours by gender and by skill.
