Information session on a proposed Global Fund to End Slavery

Presentation followed by a Q&A session to discuss the proposal to establish a Global Fund to End Modern Slavery

Forced labour has been receiving growing international attention. A recent proposal initiated by the private sector has called for the establishment of a Global Fund to End Modern Slavery in order to catalyse and coordinate a global strategy towards the effective elimination of slavery.

In light of the Governing Body discussion on the follow-up to the Forced Labour Protocol adopted by the International Labour Conference (ILO) in June 2014, the purpose of the session is to share information with ILO constituents about the current status of consultations and to facilitate an initial exchange of views on the proposal.

It is aimed at members of the ILO Governing Body, Geneva-based diplomatic missions and UN organizations.

  • Welcome remarks by Mr Greg Vines, ILO Deputy Director-General for Management & Reform
  • Presentation of the Global Fund concept by Ms Jean Baderschneider Global Fund to End Slavery CEO
