  1. ILO ACTRAV Regional Seminar on Wage Policy

    16 - 18 April 2013

    Extremely low wages for many workers in the formal and the informal economy are keeping millions of workers and their families in poverty. Wage growth in many countries has been lacking productivity growth. Policies in favour of systematic trade surpluses have deprived workers from their fair share of the wealth creation in money countries.

  2. Training "Identifying and investigating cases of forced labour and human trafficking"

    15 - 19 April 2013

    This course, organized by the International Training Centre of the ILO in Turin, will train participants to better identify and investigate cases of forced labour, including trafficking in human beings for labour exploitation. It will introduce forced labour indicators and address different stages of the investigative process, such as victim interviews and gathering evidence, with a focus on the pre-trial phase. The course will focus on forced labour occurring in the private economy (including textile, agriculture, domestic work sectors).

  3. ILO Director-General on official visit in Algeria

    The Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Mr. Guy Ryder, paid an official visit to Algeria from 13 to 16 April 2013 at the invitation of the Algerian Government and the social partners.

  4. 9th European Regional Meeting

    8 - 11 April 2013

    The 9th European Regional Meeting (ERM) will provide the space for governments and worker and employer organisations, from across Europe and Central Asia to discuss the response to the economic and jobs crisis in a diverse and complex region: creating job-rich growth, promoting quality jobs through social dialogue, tackling youth unemployment and demographic challenges, promoting labour standards and policy coherence.

  1. National Tripartite Dialogue on Maternity Protection in Zambia

    The Government of Zambia, in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), is hosting a National Tripartite Dialogue on Maternity Protection – in the presence of the First Lady, Dr. Christine Mwela Kaseba-Sata - , from 27-28 March 2013 in Lusaka, Zambia.

  2. IV International Convention against Child Labour

    The main objective of the event is to assist the 2013 Global Child Labour Conference with the support of the work coming from Latin America in the elimination of child labour. To help achieve the overall goal of elimination of the worst forms of child labour by 2016, the event will help analyze overall progress and identify remaining challenges.

  3. Briefing session on the 3rd Global Child Labour Conference

    Members of the Governing Body and ILO staff are invited by the Ministry of Social Development and Hunger Alleviation and the Ministry of Labour and Employment of Brazil to a briefing session on the 3rd Global Child Labour Conference, to be held in Brasilia on 8-10 October 2013.

  4. Expert Group Meeting and International Symposium on Employment-led Post-disaster Recovery

    On 14 March, in Morioka, Japan, experts from governments, workers’ and employers’ organisations from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan and the Philippines met to discuss about lessons learned and good practices from the tsunami and earthquake in Japan.

  5. Orientation Workshop for Dhaka Ahsania Mission Project Staff and Management

    ILO executed Labour Migration project supported Dhaka Ahsania Mission conduct an Orientation Workshop to familiarize project staff and management with the implementation approach and methodology for implementing a pilot initiative to give top-up technical training and impart life skills and pre-departure information to equip the Bangladeshi workers who have made a decision to migrate for work in another country and to support left behind families of the migrant workers.
