GENEVA – The new ILO report Global Employment Trends 2013 shows that global unemployment is on the rise again as the economic outlook worsens although there are significant differences across regions. The number of unemployed worldwide rose by 4.2 million in 2012 to reach over 197 million.

Labour market situation remains particularly bleak for youth with almost 74 million young people unemployed around the world while many of the new jobs require skills that jobseekers do not have.
