  1. EU-STREIT PNG takes a step forward in empowering rural communities to secure farmers’ access to agricultural markets

    Led by ILO, the road and infrastructure component of the EU-STREIT PNG is focused on upgrading roads, bridges, jetties and airstrips. This effort aims to help create an enabling environment for farmers to increase their income and profit with opportunities to participate in value-added markets to become agripreneurs under the three value chains supported by the Programme

    The Summit organized by the Cooperative Bank of South Sudan took place on 17 June 2021 bringing government officials, representatives from donor organizations, NGOs, international development partners, cooperative societies as well as youth.

  6. ILO supports the creation of market links through cooperatives in agriculture in Northern Sri Lanka

    Since its establishment in 2017, the ILO supported the Udayarkaddu Cooperative to establish a primary processing facility for fruits and vegetables, set up market linkages through private sector partnerships; and increase the production capacity of its member farmers through a series of capacity building initiatives. During COVID-19 the cooperative tailored ways to serve its members even during the lockdown.

    A new project will address a number of labour market challenges imposed by the pandemic, and meet some of the longer-term decent work priorities of Iraq.

  9. Honey and cheese cooperatives created in Cahul district in Moldova, with ILO’s support

    In Cahul district, Moldova, the public-private Local Employment Partnership (LEP) funded by the ILO and local stakeholders, supported the creation of two cooperatives processing honey and cheese.

    In September 2020, ILO engineers visited West Kordofan and East Darfur to develop bills of quantities to prioritize between different water-infrastructure projects.
