    We promote responsible business conduct in Latin America and the Carribean

    ILO Chief Technical Advisor, Olga Orozco, speaks from Peru about the Responsible Business Conduct project in Latin America and the Caribbean (RBCLAC), which aims to promote smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in the EU and in Latin America and the Caribbean. Funded by the European Union and implemented in collaboration with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Office of the High Commissioner of The United Nations for Human Rights (OHCHR), the project will run until the end of 2022.

    Chile ratifies the Protocol to Convention No. 29, reaffirming its commitment to fight against forced labour

    Chile ratified the ILO Protocol of 2014 to the Forced Labour Convention, 1930 . With the culmination of this process, Chile becomes the third country in South America to take on the challenge of moving forward to become a country free of forced labour.

    Taking the ILO to South America: An epic historical journey

    Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile were founding members of the International Labour Organization but were far removed from its Geneva headquarters. In order to draw them in closer, the first ILO Director, Albert Thomas, undertook an epic 70-day journey to South America in 1925.
