BANGKOK (ILO News) – A new report on labour and social trends in the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will be released by the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific next week. The report has been prepared for participants attending the 2nd ASEAN Human Resource Conference, being held in Hanoi on Tuesday 25th May.

The report, entitled Labour and Social Trends in ASEAN 2010, Sustaining Recovery and Development through Decent Work looks at how the ASEAN states are recovering from the economic and jobs crisis and compares their experiences with other key regional economies. It considers lessons learned, and suggests policy priorities for the region if skills and talent are to be effectively developed and productivity and competitiveness rebuilt.

The report, put together by the ILO’s Regional Economic and Social Analysis unit, will be available for publication from 00.05 Friday 21st May, Bangkok time (17.05 GMT, Thursday 20th May). It will also be posted on the ILO’s Asia Pacific website ( www.ilo.org/asia). Advance copies will be available to recognized media under embargo.
