    Empowering Indigenous Women in Bolivia's Construction Sector

    Indigenous peoples are five per cent of the world's population but 15 per cent of the world's poor. As a result of exclusion and discrimination, indigenous women are often the poorest of the poor. They struggle more to find decent work. In Bolivia, the ILO and its partners are working to advance the rights of indigenous women, empower them economically and help them attain social justice.

    Small scale mines in Bolivia

    Mining is a dangerous occupation the world over, but in the small scale mines of Bolivia the fatality rate is 90 per cent higher than that faced by miners in industrialized countries. The dangers of makeshift mines, ranging from dust and noise to inexperience, are explained in a new manual from the International Labour Organization, as ILO TV reports.
