Tayaba Khanam Era learned from one of her friends that Khulna Mahila Polytechnic Institute was offering skills courses with support from the ILO’s European Union-funded Skills 21 project. Era chose a graphic design course, which was something she had always dreamed about.

Jordanian Omar Abu Noa’aj has struggled to find work for years due to his physical disability. Last year, an ILO employment centre helped him secure his first formal job at a garment factory, giving him a new sense of independence and purpose.

On 28 September the Kazakhstan’s Parliament held hearings, titled “Problems and prospects of development of the employment sphere,” on 28th September. The participants discussed the current state of the labour market, employment, and formalization of self-employed population in Kazakhstan as well as methods to further develop employment of the country in the current context.
