Voices: Give people with disabilities a chance to work

Despite years of study, it was difficult for Elena Epuri to find a job. Elena has cerebral palsy and uses a walker to help with her mobility. Becoming a mother motivated her to continue her job search and two years ago she was hired by a company that actively seeks to recruit people with disabilities.

Honey and berries: untapped growth potential in Moldova’s agricultural sector

New ILO research on the honey and berry value chains in the Republic of Moldova reveals how these two sectors can further grow and promote inclusive employment. Honey exports increased 10 times in the past decade. The berry sector has grown to engage up to 100,000 farmers in the past 5 years, most of them being women.

Bees - A remedy for business success

Viorica Anghel transformed her life when she signed up for a beekeeper’s course run by the ILO in Moldova. She now runs her own business and uses the honey for medicinal purposes to treat her son.

Helping migrant workers to secure social security rights

At least 25 per cent of workers in Moldova will work abroad at some point in their career. However, few of them know that in many cases they are entitled to receive social security benefits from their destination countries once they go back home. An ILO campaign is aiming to change that perception.
