1. XIV Conferencia Interamericana de Ministros de Trabajo (CIMT) de la OEA

   26 - 27 septiembre 2005

   La XIV CIMT tuvo como tema central “La persona y su trabajo en el centro de la globalización” y giró en torno al análisis de tres ejes sustantivos: • La centralidad de la persona y su trabajo en la economía, en las políticas del Estado y en la globalización; • el diálogo social como herramienta para abordar los efectos sociolaborales de la globalización; • los efectos sociolaborales de las políticas públicas en el empleo y el combate a la pobreza.

2. Segunda cumbre del sur - Grupo de los 77 y China

   12 - 16 junio 2005

   Al ser la coalición más numerosa de países del tercer mundo ante las Naciones Unidas, el Grupo de los 77 proporciona el medio que permite que el mundo en desarrollo articule y promueva sus intereses económicos colectivos y mejore su capacidad de negociación conjunta respecto de las principales cuestiones económicas en el seno del sistema de las Naciones Unidas, así como que promueva la cooperación económica y técnica entre los países en desarrollo (ECDC/TCDC).

3. Seminario nacional sobre La Dimensión social de la Globalización

   28 - 29 abril 2005

   Participaron 80 sindicalistas. El seminario focalizó dos ejes inmediatos de trabajo para poder materializar las recomendaciones de la Comisión Mundial en las temas de empleo y los derechos laborales fundamentales.

4. Special session the ILO's Seventh European Regional Meeting

   14 - 18 febrero 2005

   A special session at ministerial level during the ILO's European Regional Meeting confirmed widespread support for the follow-up to the report. A high level panel discussion among the Prime Ministers of Hungary, Kazakhstan, Luxemburg and Malta, the General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the President of the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) also underlined the importance of globalization for the development of social policy and employment creation. The Director-General addressed the Conference.

1. UN General Assembly adopts Resolution on World Commission Report on Fair Globalization

   2 diciembre 2004

   UN General Assembly adopted by consensus a resolution recognizing the contribution of the World Commission's report to achieving a fully inclusive and equitable globalization.

2. ILO Tripartite Conference on Welfare State Reform: A Vision for Poland

   19 octubre 2004

   This Conference organized by the Government of Poland forms part of the national follow-up to the WCSDG report.

3. National Roundtable on fair globalization for the Russian Federation.

   13 septiembre 2004

   The roundtable meeting called for a fair globalization for the Russian Federation.

4. 92nd Session International Labour Conference

   1 - 17 junio 2004

   The Director-Generals report gave rise to a wide-ranging and high quality debate in the plenary of the International Labour Conference. Almost 300 speakers offered a multitude of ideas and reactions, and suggestions on how the ILO could take the recommendations of the Report forward.

5. Follow-up conference on the Report on the Social Dimension of Globalization, Lithuania.

   13 - 14 mayo 2004

   The meeting gathered high-level representatives of workers, employers and governments from the Nordic and Baltic States, and was the first of a series of national and regional meetings to discuss the follow-up to the report of the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization.

6. China Employment Forum

   28 - 30 abril 2004

   The Forum had more than 500 high-ranking officials and specialists with strong international participation and discussions concentrated on decent work for all. Commissioner Lu Mai and the Director-General were present.
