Labour and social affair ministers from ten countries, the President of the EU Council, Richard Bruton, EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, László Andor, and ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, discuss ways to support ILO Convention 189 on Decent Work for Domestic Workers.

9th European Regional Meeting

The 9th European Regional Meeting (ERM) will provide the space for governments and worker and employer organisations, from across Europe and Central Asia to discuss the response to the economic and jobs crisis in a diverse and complex region: creating job-rich growth, promoting quality jobs through social dialogue, tackling youth unemployment and demographic challenges, promoting labour standards and policy coherence.

ILO High-Level Brainstorming Conference on economic, employment and social prospects in Europe

The ILO High-Level Brainstorming Conference, jointly organized by the ILO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the ILO International Institute for Labour Studies, will bring together fifteen prominent international experts as well as representatives of governments, members of the European Parliament, employers and workers to discuss and develop solutions through which the region can achieve social equality, job-centeredness and competivity.

Informal Meeting of Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs took place at the margin of the International Labour Conference (ILC). During this meeting – jointly organised by Hungary, holding the Presidency of the EU Council, and the ILO – the European Commission, Ministers of Belgium, Spain (as the members of the current Trio Presidency), Poland (as the forthcoming Presidency), Azerbaijan, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Ukraine and representatives of employer and worker organizations debated on the question how to secure decent work for young people in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.

UN Ministerial Conference on the Impact of the Global Economic and Financial Crisis on Food Security and the Agricultural Sector

This Conference brings together the Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs and senior officials from the Ministries of Labour, Finance/Economy and Agriculture of the 13 countries, as well as high-level representatives of the United Nations system, international and regional financial institutions (IFIs), regional organizations, bilateral cooperation agencies, international employers' and workers' organizations, civil society and regional academia.
