Reducing the decent work deficit in the infrastructure and construction sectors

The experience and proposals of ILO's Employment Intensive Investment Programme

The purpose of this paper is to look at ILO's Employment Intensive Investment Programme (EIIP) in the light of the ILO's Decent Work Agenda, its relevance, experiences and lessons learned. It discusses pertinent features of the EIIP approach, the socio-economic impact of technology choice in pubic investments; and explains how the approach contributes to the four dimensions of decent work i.e. employment creation, worker's rights, social protection and social dialogue
