The paper examines the Philippines’ performance in relation to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: promoting “sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all”. In addition to examining SDG target 8.6 on reducing the proportion of young people not in employment, education or training (NEETs), the paper also discusses macroeconomic developments, labour market conditions, labour productivity growth and relevant policy updates. The paper seeks to provide some insights in addressing constraints on economic growth, reducing the number of NEETs and promoting full and productive employment.
