Employment Diagnostic Analysis: Concept and methods - Employment Policy Retreat

The Employment Policy Department hosted a retreat in Geneva from the 14th to the 16th of September, 2010, titled ‘Employment Policy in a Changing World’. The aim of the Retreat was to create a common platform of vision, knowledge and action on employment policy development. The event was attended by employment specialists from the field, HQ staff and external resource persons. The retreat’s main objectives were to provide participants with an overview of state-of-the-art knowledge of key issues in the design of national employment policies, develop a shared vision among both HQ and field colleagues on the delivery of policy advisory services to member states in line with the 2010 ILC Recurrent discussion on employment and taking into account diversity of regional contexts, needs and levels of development, provide tangible lessons and guidelines that will enable colleagues working in the field of employment policy to enhance their capacity to serve and support constituents more effectively, and assessing the new employment agenda in the context of DWA and GJP demands, and assess our frameworks and tools for action and discuss the new focus for research and capacity building.
