    What Works in Youth and Women’s Employment in MENA?

    On 7 & 8 May, the ILO will join partners to share the current status and progress on what works in youth and women’s employment in the MENA region while promoting multi-sectoral collaboration to define and address priorities for policy formulation. Key to this is the regional Community of Practice on Youth Employment, to facilitate knowledge sharing, partnership creation and up-scaling of successful youth employment interventions.

The roundtable presented evidence on rural women’s entrepreneurship promotion programmes and related policy measures in the MENA region.

    High-level event on Youth Employment for Peace and Resilience

    Under the aegis of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth, the event is co-organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) together with the Ministry of Employment and Social Security of Spain and the Permanent Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations.

    High-level policy meeting calls for reversal of negative labour market impacts of Syrian refugee crisis on host nations

    High-level representatives from Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt have gathered under the banner of the ILO to exchange experiences and formulate sustainable policies and programmes that respond to the labour market impacts of the Syrian refugee crisis.

    The ILO is to convene a high-level policy dialogue session between key players in countries hosting Syrian refugees to exchange views and experiences on the challenges faced in addressing the labour market impact of the crisis and discuss options for policy and programmes.
