    The Policy Working Group of the EU-funded Mainstreaming Employment into Trade and Investment (METI) concluded its second meeting in Cairo, Egypt, on 8 May 2023. Chaired by Dr. Reham Rizk, Head of the Modelling Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, it brought together 20 policy makers from relevant government ministries, representatives from the social partners, specialized national agencies, and civil society organisations he METI team presented the key findings of a detailed analysis of the sub-sectors linked to the Manufacture of Food sector. The working group reached consensus to focus on the “sugars, sugar confectionary and chocolate” for METI’s forthcoming value chain analysis

  16. The Global Accelerator on Just and Social Protection for Just Transitions

    The Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions, launched in September 2021 by the UN Secretary-General, signals the UN system’s collective response for addressing the multiple challenges that threaten to erase development progress. The aim is to direct investments to help create at least 400 million decent jobs, primarily in the green, digital and care economies, and to extend social protection coverage to the over 4 billion people currently excluded.
