    Human resource development in the financial inclusion sector: Supporting managers in their HRD role

    The e-MFP Human Resources Action Group and the ILO’s Social Finance Programme organized a webinar series on human resource development (HRD) in the financial inclusion sector in 2022. Throughout the series we shared the results of the Action Group’s 2021 survey on HRD practices and discussed different topics with microfinance practitioners: aligning HRD and business strategy, supporting managers in their HRD role and equal opportunities for women.

    Supporting managers in the financial sector in their HR role

    Last year, the European Microfinance Platform conducted a survey on human resource development practices in the financial sector. One of the priority topics for financial service providers that emerged, was how to help managers in financial institutions recruit, support and mentor their staff. This webinar will summarize key actions that emerged from the survey, based on input from 195 financial service providers globally. Senior managers from VisionFund (Bolivia), Al Majmoua (Lebanon) and ASKI (Philippines) will also share their HR practices and lessons learned.

    Social and solidarity economy: Social innovation catalyst in Africa?

    The report illustrates and characterizes the social innovation processes carried out by Social and Solidarity Economy Organizations (SSEOs) in five African countries (South Africa, Cameroon, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia). By analysing practical cases of social innovation, it explores the extent to which SSEOs contribute to generating social innovation in Africa for a more sustainable and inclusive local development, as well as the creation and promotion of decent work for all. The report highlights internal and external factors impacting SSEOs in their social innovation process and it presents a set of policy recommendations to unlock the potential of SSEOs as catalyser of social innovation in African.
