    “Spotlight Interviews with Co-operators” is a series of interviews with co-operators from around the world with whom ILO officials have crossed paths during the course of their work on cooperatives and social and solidarity economy (SSE). On this occasion, ILO interviewed Mr Noel Raboy, President and CEO in CLIMBS, a composite insurance cooperative owned by 4,000 member cooperatives from around the Philippines.

    Energy transition: Perspectives and opportunities for the world of work

    This course will provide a conceptual framework for the creation of more and better jobs through the transition to sustainable and clean energy. It will equip participants with the knowledge and understanding of the employment creation potential and the skills required for a transition to sustainable and clean energy and the skills required, as well as concrete strategies for decent work promotion in the sector, from both public and private-sector perspectives. This will include the sharing of national experiences and approaches to managing sustainable energy transitions in rural and urban areas.

    Green jobs for sustainable development: concepts and practices

    This course provides an interactive e-learning opportunity to explore green jobs concepts and emerging practices. Through a review of tools, selected literature and best practices, participants are introduced to the labour-market implications of the transition to greener and more sustainable economies. The action-oriented curriculum is structured to promote the design and implementation of green jobs policies, programmes and projects

    Promoting a just transition to low-carbon and climate-resilient development

    This course seeks to strengthen institutional and individual capacities to support a just transition to environmentally sustainable economies and societies. Participants will acquire knowledge and tools to help them understand the sustainable development framework, in particular the link between environmental challenges and the world of work. It will focus on the ILO Guidelines for a Just Transition: a framework and practical tool for tackling the employment and social dimensions of sustainable development, climate change and other environmental challenges.

    Since 2010, the ILO, through the Cooperatives Unit (COOP) and its Office for Tokyo, and the Japanese Consumers’ Co-operative Union (JCCU) have co-organized African Cooperative Leaders' Study Tours in Japan to encourage the exchange of knowledge and experiences and explore possible cooperation between African and Japanese cooperatives.
