Describes the process of privatization in Sub-Saharan Africa. Discusses some of the economic liberalization processes in Africa, the restructuring of public enterprises as a prelude to privatization, the role of the financial sector, and social aspects. Illustrates modes of privatization through four Nigerian case studies: public offering, private placement, asset sale, and employees’ and management buy-outs.
