Conscious of their potential, on 2 September 2014, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation (DGRV) will organise a Symposium on “Cooperatives and the Sustainable Development Goals”. This event aims at informing the development community in Germany of the latest trends with regard to the role cooperative enterprises can play as builders of economic, social and environmental sustainability.
The Symposium is in line with the joint initiative launched by the International Labour Organization and the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) to bring cooperative voices into the discussion around the post-2015 development agenda. The main findings of the report on the contribution of cooperatives to sustainable development that will be published as part of this initiative will be presented during the Symposium.
