End of August 2020, 4 crew members gave the legal proxy to ITF Lawyer for ship’s legal detention. The remaining crew refused the help of ITF.

As at the end of September, food, fuel and assistance had been provided from the Venice Seafarers’ Welfare Committee, since October to date the Mortgagee Bank which is purchasing the ship.
Constant negotiations with the owners Palmali, Flag State and P&I club.

All crew who want to be sent home have been repatriated.
On 26/11/2020, 2 crew repatriated at Bank costs, on 08/12/2020, 2 other crew repatriated at Bank costs. Payments at arrival home are NOT confirmed.
On 10/12/2020, 6 new Ukrainian crew (including Master) joined the ship to prepare sailing.
Existing crew opted to remain on board.

To obtain the withdrawal of ITF legal action, on 12/10/2020 the Lawyer representing the Bank paid the full salaries to the 4-crew represented from ITF and a first instalment to the remaining 8 crew (total $225,402).
Awaiting confirmation of salaries received by crew repatriated and currently calculating outstanding salaries of the crew who remained on board.
Crew have been paid.

The Maltese flagship Zeynalabdin Tagiyev, operated by Palmali Shipping & Agency, arrived in the port of Venice on 12 June 2020. The ship was subjected to PSC inspection on 20 August and 20 deficiencies were found (7 for non-compliance with MLC, 2006), all grounds for detention. The ship is currently detained. Arriving in the port of Venice, the ship was subject to judicial seizure measures to guarantee creditors who claimed the payment of sums for services rendered to the ship as well as by the crew for the payment of wages accrued in the previous months and unpaid. After a few weeks of stay, some seafarers disembarked while others remained on board and the ship was, in fact, abandoned by the owner. All the procedures provided for the case have been activated, including the use of the ITF and the Maritime Agency, proceeding to provide what is necessary for the survival of the board and for the minimal logistics of the ship.
At the moment, the civil procedures relating to conservation seizures have been concluded with the issuance of release orders following the payment of debts or the provision of adequate sureties.
From further information received by the Port Authority of Venice, through the Recognized Organization, it would seem that the purchase and sale procedure of the ship has been started which, consequently, will have a new owner, new ISM Company, new flag and new crew to proceed with the definition of detention.

The vessel has now changed name to ANGORA 2 and is now newly managed by a Turkish company. 9 of the crew have received their outstanding wages and been repatriated, whilst 4 of the crew remain on board but have been paid in full and will sign off in Istanbul shortly. $225,402 owed wages recovered. Resolved.
