The Maltese flag Sultan Bey, managed by Palmali Shipping & Agency, arrived in the port of Ravenna on 16 July 2020 with 14 seamen on board.
The crew was repatriated on 23 and 24 October at the expense of the "Seafarers' Welfare Committee" of Ravenna for a total of € 10,937.60 (the financial security provided for by the MLC 2006 was not activated). In the absence of a response to the numerous letters sent to the flag State, it was not possible to prove the validity and/or falsity of the insurance.
The ship is still subject to the following sequestration measures:
• 300,000 euros for crew salaries
• 130 thousand euros for the bunker
• 190 thousand euros for cargo damage.
Fed. int. des ouvriers du transport (ITF) (5 mars 2021)
