The crew are desperate to leave, situation exacerbated by proximity to bombing, crews' passports held by the agent so no possibility to leave the vessel.|

The crew are caught up in the conflict between different interests. The ship managers have instructed the master not to go into port, whilst the local agent and armed men on board appear to be forcing the crew to go alongside and undertake cargo operations.
International Maritime Organisation (31 May 2016)
The IMO received the message below from Mr. Faisal M. Maree of the Maritime Affairs Authority of the Republic of Yemen on 30 May 2016.
The ship Master said:
- Crew salary problem has been solved.
- The ship engines are in working order will perform discharge operation, on completion discharge will sail out after obtaining crew passport and port clearance.
- Fresh water was supplied by ATS 25 tons on 28/04/2016, and again 25 tons on 23 / 05 /2016.
- The provision was received without receipt from receiver on 28/04/2016.
- Crew health not very sound, some of crew suffering from rashes due heat as no air-condition running due shortage of diesel. Agent is rendering medical assistance to the crew effected.
- It is agreed to remove unauthorized gun men guards by the port authority.
The ship agent said:
- The new owner (Somali Nationality)of the cargo signed a contract with the National Oil Company to buy the cargo and then discharged.
- The demurrage has been paid by the new owner of the cargo.
- The vessel will be taken to berth to discharge within coming two days.
ITF (31 May 2016)
As of yesterday the vessel was still at anchorage. The port of Makulla contacted the vessel to arrange the berth, but apparently the company told the captain not to proceed on account of the commercial conflict with the cargo receiver. March salaries have been paid, but April and May remain outstanding. Seven of the crew have visited a doctor and the chief engineer has received medicines. There is still an urgent issue with lack of water, provisions, and fuel for the air conditioning.
ITF (27 June 2016)
The Najdiah has now sailed from Yemen to Dubai. Throughout there have been constant problems with provisioning for basic needs. Whilst wages for March and April have now been paid, May and June remain outstanding and there will be 10 crew in need of repatriation from Dubai. Apparently the commercial conflict has been resolved through the finding of a new buyer.
