    This Regulation is composed of 7 articles and 2 Annexes. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Any juridical or physical person intend to trade with hazardous chemical materials (importation, exportation, fabrication, transportation, storage, circulation, use and treatment) shall register this materials at the Ministry for obtaining the Environmental licence) after paying the fixed fees (art. 2). The Ministry shall keep a list of all hazardous chemical materials (art. 3). Who trade with these materials shall keep a valid environmental licence with a chemical security data (art. 4). Officers charged by a resolution of the Minister shall inspect any activity related to hazardous chemical materials and carry out the necessary experiments to insure the compatibility with this Regulation (art. 6). Article 7 contains offences and penalties. Hazardous requirements and prescriptions are given in Annex I. Chemical security data is dealt with in Annex II.

Provides that a Permanent Committee for Chemicals shall be set up by a Decision from the Minister, under the chairmanship of the Undersecretary for Environment Affairs and members at the level of Director General from Royal Oman Police, Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Environment, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Water Resources, Sultan Qaboos University, and any other agency defined by the Minister.

    This Regulation is composed of 15 articles. Terms and definition (art. 1). Employers before buying new machines, equipment and instruments must consider the information concerning the, emission of noise from these equipments, level of noise in the function place and acoustic power level (art. 2). Employers shall communicate to the Ministry the aforementioned information to assure the compatibility with the provisions of this Regulation (art. 3). Article 4 defines the level noise in the place of work which shall 85 decibels. Employers shall provide suitable instruments for hearing protection (art. 8). Employers shall give the technical information and instruction concerning the acoustic press ion level and maximum of acoustic pressure (art. 14).

    his Regulation is composed of 16 articles. Terms and definitions are given in article 1. The application submitted for the hazardous waste licence shall be compatible with the standard format developed by the Ministry (art. 2). Every holder of a NEO (environmental authorization certificate) or licence, previously issued according to the Law of environmental conservation and pollution prevention, shall have to to submit an application to the Ministry to obtain a Hazardous Waste Licence within 3 months from the date of entry into force of this Regulation (art. 3). Every hazardous waste generator shall complete a consignment note for each category of hazardous waste (art. 5). Hazardous waste or its components may be recycled according to this Regulation (art. 7). Hazardous waste shall be stored in an authorized deposit (art. 8). Hazardous waste shall be collected, handled, stored, disposed of and transported by transporters authorized by the Ministry (art. 9). The owners of sites for the pre-treatment of hazardous waste shall apply to the Ministry to obtain a previous licence (art. 12). The owners of sites for hazardous waste landfill shall apply to the Ministry to obtain an authorization (art. 13). The Officers nominated by a resolution of the Minister may carry out the inspection without a previous notification (art. 14). Importation or exportation of hazardous waste shall be carried out upon an authorization of the Minister (art. 15). It shall be necessary to obtain an approval of the Ministry of Public Health before issuing any licence concerning the aforementioned subjects (art. 16).

    Regulation for the management of solid non-hazardous waste (Resolution No. 17 of 1993). - Regulation in Arabic Unofficial English translation

    This Regulation is composed of 19 articles. Terms and definitions are given in article 1. Occupants of premises used for residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural or other purposes shall store or dispose of solid non-hazardous waste (art. 2). The Concerned Authority shall establish a suitable system for the collection, storage and transportation of all solid non-hazardous waste (art. 3). Occupants or users of residential sites shall deliver the entire waste produced from the use of this site to the system established for the collection of such waste (art. 4). The user of commercial, industrial, agricultural or any other sites, which produce solid non-hazardous waste except domestic waste, shall collect this waste and transport it in a safe manner to a site established by the Concerned Authority (art. 5). The Concerned Authority shall establish the number of waste containers in the collection system area (art. 6). According to the request of the applicant, the Ministry shall issue a licence for the establishment of solid non-hazardous waste treatment facilities and sanitary landfills (art. 7). The Concerned Authority shall inspect the sites to ensure the environmental protection (art. 8). The operators of solid non-hazardous waste treatment facilities and sanitary landfills shall keep such records of daily operation (art. 10). No solid non-hazardous waste shall be mixed with any category of hazardous waste at any time (art. 13). The Concerned Authority shall prepare an EIA for each sanitary landfill or dumping site as established by the Ministry (art. 14). The Concerned Authority shall prepare a master plan for the collection, storage, transportation, treatment of solid non-hazardous waste for 15 years (art. 15). Importation of solid non-hazardous waste shall be prohibited unless previously authorized by the Ministry (art. 18).
