Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Act 2007 (Act No. 6 of 2007). - Adoption: 2007-05-18 | Date d'entrée en vigueur: 2007-06-18 | MUS-2007-L-77543 Amends the Criminal Procedure Act by inserting a new section 150A concerning the sentence of penal servitude for life. At the discretion of the court, the term is to be not less than three years and may not exceed 60 years. In addition, consequential amendments are made to the Criminal Code is amended in sections 61, 64, 222, 223, 231, 236(2) and the Dangerous Drugs Act in sections 41(3) and 47(4).

Community Service Order Act, 2002 (No. 17 of 2002). - Adoption: 2002-07-19 | MUS-2002-L-62423 Regulates issue of community service orders as an alternative to imprisonment. Community service orders requiring convicted person to perform unpaid work may be made where a court convicts a person 18 years or older and sentences him or her to a term of imprisonment not exceeding 2 years and not being a sentence fixed by law. Court shall not make community service order unless convicted person gives his consent; court, after considering report from probation officer, is satisfied that convicted person is suitable person to be subject to such order; and adequate arrangements have been made for carrying out order. Community service order shall be made for a period of not less than 60 hours nor more than 300 hours, spanning over a period of not more than 12 months. Also regulates conditions of community service, obligations of convicted person, obligation of community service officer, amendment of community service order, and breach of community service order.

Part I contains preliminary provisions. Part II provides for corruption offences. Parts III and IV establish independent commission against corruption, as well as advisory committees. Part V regulates proceedings of commission. Part VI deals with parliamentary committee. Part VII provides for restraint and forfeiture of proceeds of corruption and money laundering. Part VIII deals with mutual assistance in relation to corruption or money laundering offences. Part IX regulates extradition procedures. Finally, Part X contains miscellaneous provisions.
