Civil Code -

Part 1 contains general provisions, covering legal capacity of individuals, civil transactions, representation, and personal rights. Personal rights include the right to privacy, to citizenship, to marriage, and to equality between husband and wife; the right to freedom of belief and religion, freedom of movement and residence, and the right to work. Part 2 contains provisions relating to property and ownership rights. Part 3 relates to civil obligations and civil contracts, civil liability, mortgages, civil contracts, liability for damages (including damage caused by workers and trainees). Chapter III regards obligations and performance of acts without authorisation. Part 4 covers inheritance; Part 5 land rights, and Part 6 concerns intellectual property rights and technology transfer.

According to this amendment, foreigners are not allowed to create a company in Yemen, unless they have Yemeni partner. The Yemeni partner must hold at least 51% of the company. This Law does not apply to certain small businesses.

Provides for copyright in literary, musical and artistic works, computer programmes, audiovisual works, sound recordings, broadcasts and cable programmes. Also makes provision for rights in performance. Section 10 regulates first ownership of copyright. Inter alia establishes that first ownership of copyright shall be subject to agreement under subsection 11(3) to assign ownership of copyright expected to arise in the future.
