Constitution (Recognition of Traditional Standards, Values and Practices) Amendment Act 2010 (Act No. 6 of 2010). - Adoption: 2011-01-01 | TUV-2011-L-89618 Amends sections 12(2), 26(1), 27(2) and 29(5) and inserts a new section 15(6). The purpose of the amendments is to protect the island communities of Tuvalu from the spread of religious beliefs which threaten the cohesiveness of island communities; to provide the powers necessary to make laws to restrict the exercise of certain constitutional freedoms, where the exercise of those freedoms is inconsistent with a law, or an act done under law, which accords with the traditional standards, values and practices of the island communities of Tuvalu; and to provide legal recognition for the traditional practices of island communities to limit the establishment of religions on their islands.

Merchant Shipping (Oil Pollution) (Tuvalu) Order, 1975 (CAP 48:30). - Adoption: 1975 | INT-1975-L-109670
This Order extends to Tuvalu the provisions of the Merchant Shipping (Oil Pollution) Act 1971, with the necessary adaptations, enabling effect to be given to the International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage opened for signature in Brussels on 29th November 1969 (Cmnd. 4403). The Order also extends the provisions of Parts I and V of, and of Schedule 1 to the Merchant Shipping Act 1974, with the necessary adaptations, enabling effect to be given to the International Convention on the Establishment of an International Fund for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage opened for signature in Brussels on 18th December 1971 (Cmnd. 5061). The 1969 Convention provides uniform rules and procedures for determining questions of liability and for awarding compensation when damage is caused by pollution resulting from the escape or discharge of oil from ships. The 1971 Convention sets up an international fund to provide a supplementary system for compensation and indemnification for such damage.
