    Consolidates existing legislation relating to development of the industrial sector, transfer of technology, upgrading of small and medium enterprises, and integration of non-Export Processing Zone subsectors into the Export Processing Zone sector. Section 20 contains labour provisions relating to wage, overtime, maternity leave, hours of work and severance pay for persons employed in export processing zones.

    Section 3 of these Regulations (made under the Export Processing Zone Welfare Fund Act 1987) provides that "The workers' contributions shall be deducted from the workers' earnings and paid to the Fund by every export enterprise." Penalties for the making of false statements in connection with monthly statements are provided for in s.7. Forms attached.

The Centre is set up to promote handicrafts at the national, regional and international levels, to promote the training and provide support services for the development of Mauritian artisans and craftsmen.

    Export Processing Zones Act (RL2/693).

    Governs recognition of areas as export porcessing zones. No overtime shall be paid for work which does not exceed 45 hours a week. A female employee who has had three confinements, if pregnant, shall be entitled to maternity leave without pay. Part IV of the Labour Act does not apply to employees in EPZs except in the case of unfair dismissal.

    Trade and Business Enterprises Mergers Act (RL 5/459).

    Stipulates that if two or more enterprises intend to merge and as a consequence an employee of one of the companies might lose his employment, the enterprises must seek permission from the responsible Minister.
