    An Act, in the public interest, to provide for—

    (A) a further restoration, that is a restoration further to that provided in consequence of legislation enacted in 2015, of the remuneration of certain persons in the public service that had been the subject of a reduction effected by legislation enacted in 2009, 2011 or 2013, and for that purpose to repeal or amend certain of the foregoing legislation;
    (B) an increase in the amount of pension or other benefits, other than lump sums, (being the amount of pension or other benefits at the level at which they stand fixed, before the passing of this Act, in consequence of legislation enacted in 2010, 2013 or 2015) payable to or in respect of certain persons who were in the public service under an occupational pension scheme or arrangement (by whatever name called) and for that purpose to amend certain of the foregoing legislation;
    (C) the repeal of the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2009;
    (D) the payment of an additional superannuation contribution by certain persons in the public service who are members of a public service pension scheme;
    (E) the regulation of certain fees and other payments in respect of services rendered to or on behalf of the State;

    Provides that in the case of public servants who pay a modified rate of social insurance, or in respect of whom modified contributions are credited, such contributions or credited contributions shall also be reckoned for the purposes of Bereavement Grant.

    Provide for the extension of full PRSI to entrants to the public service. In addition, public servants shall not be liable for PRSI contributions for the first ten pounds of their weekly earnings. A similar exemption is provided for ministers of the Church of Ireland.

    Amends the Local Government (Superannuation) (Gratuities) Regulations, 1984 to remove an anomaly in the system determining service for the purposes of calculating gratuities for non-pensionable persons and to extend the measures removing the need for Ministerial sanction to the payment of gratuities to bodies other than local authorities to which the Local Government Superannuation Code applies.

    Provides for the payment of an enhanced gratuity to an officer of the Permanent Defence Force who is compulsorily retired on medical grounds in certain circumstances. Made under the Defence Forces (Pensions) (Amendment) Act, 1938.

    Amends the superannuation provisions to provide pensions for the widows and children of certain male officers of local authrities who retired or died before 23 July 1968.

    This scheme consolidates the superannuation provisions applicable to officers and servants of local authorities who were formerly pensionable under the Local Government (Superannuation) Act 1956, as amended by the Local Government (Superannuation) Regulations of 1984, and of 1985, and the Local Government (Superannuation) (Job-Sharing) Regulations 1985.
