Also makes provision for procedures to correct errors made in monthly returns; the circumstances where a special savings incentive account is to be treated as ceasing; and the circumstances where a qualifying savings manager can refuse to take further subscriptions to a special savings incentive account. Finally, regulates the issue of guidance notes to assist qualifying savings managers to comply with their obligations in relation to the management of special savings incentive accounts.

    Amends Section 4 of Occupational Pension Schemes (Preservation of Benefits) Regulations 1992. Provides that in a situation where a member changes both employment and scheme in circumstances arising out of a compulsory sale/take-over or where a member transfers to a company within the same group of companies, this will not be treated as a termination of "relevant employment" if the member transfers into the new scheme and the amount not less than the amount specified in the Regulations is paid to that scheme in respect of the member's accrued benefits. Termination of relevant employment will occur if commencement in the new employment/scheme does not occur within a specified period after termination of the first employment. Also amends Section 10 of the Occupational Pension Schemes (Preservation of Benefits) Regulations, 1992.

    Regulates the disclosure of financial and other information by occupational pension schemes. Establishes, inter alia, that trustees of schemes are required to obtain annual audited accounts, including the auditor's report, and containg specified financial information, prepared by the auditor who fulfils certain requirements. Trustees must also obtain an actuarial valuation of the scheme at specified intervals, prepared by a qualified actuary.

Trustees of schemes are required inter alia to obtain annual audited accounts, including the auditor's report, and containing specified financial information, prepared by an auditor who fulfils certain requirements. Trustees of schemes must also provide an annual report containing information on the annual audited accounts for the scheme year, a copy of the latest actuarial funding certificate, a trustees' report, and an investment report.

Also provides that a person who became insured as a self-employed contributor on or after 6 April 1988 and had attained 56 years on that date will be entitled to a refund in respect of the Old Age (Contributory) Pension element of their self-employment contribution provided that they do not qualify for retirement or Old Age (Contributory or Non-Contributory) Pension.

    Regulates calculations of pension benefits following the grant of a decree of judicial separation or divorce according to the Family Law (Divorce) Act. Inter alia, provides for the manner in which a contingent benefit, a designated benefit, a residual benefit or a transfer amount payable on foot of a pension adjustment order are to be calculated.

    Provides for the introduction of a new scheme of Disability Allowance. Defines the circumstances in which a person will be regarded as being substantially handicapped in undertaking suitable employment by reason of a specified disability, and they provide that a person will be disqualified for receiving payment of allowance where he or she fails to satisfy specified rules of behaviour. Also provides that compensation received to persons who have contracted Hepatitis C or who have disabilities caused by Thalidomide shall be disregarded in assessment of means.

    Provides for the establishment of a single scheme, the review of pensions in payment, the basis on which members' and the Boards contributions are to be paid, and the basis on which pensions will be paid. Also provides for vested benefits, a retirement gratuity, the order of priority if the Scheme is dissolved, payment of administration costs by the Fund, improved death in service benefits, the elimination of the percentage discount factor which applies to early retirement, the extension of the existing provisions to allow for voluntary early retirement on redundancy and to make reference to the amount which may be paid to the personal representatives of deceased members without probate. Made under the Transport Act, 1950.

    Amends the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993 and the Social Welfare Act, 1994 with provisions relating to benefits for widows, widowers, deserted wives, prisoners' wives and seasonal workers. Section 2 disqualifies widowers from receiving death benefits if he and any other person are cohabitating as husband and wife.

Also provides that a woman will not be entitled to disability benefit while being paid by her employer during health or safety leave.
