Gibraltar Merchant Shipping (Safety, etc.) Act 1993 (Act. No. 1995-13). - Adoption: 1995-09-22 | GBR-1995-R-41982 Provides comprehensive regulations concerning safety aboard ships. Part III provides for the appointment of a Maritime Administrator for the purpose of enforcing the Ordinance. Part III sets out regulations on masters and seamen, including provisions on the language of the crew (s. 9), payment of wages, and discharge of seamen. Part IV provides safety regulations. The Maritime Administrator shall have the power to detain unsafe ships (s. 60). Repeals Merchant Shipping (Health and Safety) Ordinance 1988.

UK ships are required to have a doctor on board if carrying 100 or more persons on an international voyage of more than three days, or on a voyage during which it is more than one and a half days' sailing time from a port with adequate medical equipment.

No. 2013 of 1994) Adoption: 1994-07-28 | Date of entry into force: 1994-08-26 | GBR-1994-R-37727 Replaces the Merchant Shipping (Accident Investigation) Regulations 1989. They include, with amendments, provisions for the reporting and investigation of marine accidents contained in those Regulations and also those in the Merchant Shipping (Safety Officials and Reporting of Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences) Regulations 1982 and the Fishing Vessels (Reporting of Accidents) Regulations 1985. The latter Regulations are revoked; the former are amended separately by the Merchant Shipping (Safety Officials and Reporting of Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences) (Amendment) Regulations 1994 to remove those provisions now covered by these Regulations.

Merchant Shipping (Oil Pollution) (Tuvalu) Order, 1975 (CAP 48:30). - Adoption: 1975 | INT-1975-L-109670
This Order extends to Tuvalu the provisions of the Merchant Shipping (Oil Pollution) Act 1971, with the necessary adaptations, enabling effect to be given to the International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage opened for signature in Brussels on 29th November 1969 (Cmnd. 4403). The Order also extends the provisions of Parts I and V of, and of Schedule 1 to the Merchant Shipping Act 1974, with the necessary adaptations, enabling effect to be given to the International Convention on the Establishment of an International Fund for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage opened for signature in Brussels on 18th December 1971 (Cmnd. 5061). The 1969 Convention provides uniform rules and procedures for determining questions of liability and for awarding compensation when damage is caused by pollution resulting from the escape or discharge of oil from ships. The 1971 Convention sets up an international fund to provide a supplementary system for compensation and indemnification for such damage.
