    La ley citada aprueba la Ley de Bases de Bosques y Fauna Silvestre, que establece las normas destinadas a garantizar la conservación y el uso racional y sostenible de los bosques y la fauna silvestre existentes en el territorio nacional, así como las bases generales para el ejercicio de las actividades relacionadas con ellos, definiendo sus propósitos y principios y regulando sus derechos, deberes, uso, explotación, gestión sostenible y rendición de cuentas. Deroga los artículos 16, 17 y 18 de la Ley Básica de Desarrollo Agrario, aprobada por Ley núm. 15/05, de 7 de diciembre, sobre protección de bosques, desarrollo forestal y flora y fauna, el Decreto núm. 40040, de 9 de febrero de 1955, que estableció preceptos destinados a proteger el suelo, la flora y la fauna, así como los sitios u objetos naturales, el Decreto núm. 44531, de 21 de agosto de 1962 (Reglamento Forestal) y el Diploma Legislativo núm. 2873, de 11 de diciembre de 1957 (Reglamento de Caza). La ley se estructura de la siguiente manera:

    An Environment Court and an Environment Appeal Court are instituted under this Act and Judges appointed: the Courts shall rule trials under environmental laws and condemn violators of those very laws. Special Magistrates may be appointed for particular trials, power of investigation and inspection shall be accorded to inspectors in order to gather useful evidences.

    The Department of Environment is instituted as per section 3 of this Act and a Director General appointed to lead it. All the provisions are directed to protect the environment by any polluting , be it a solid, liquid, gaseous, or noise, heat and radiation. Rules are indicated in order to avoid any environmental damage when dealing with hazardous substances. By notification in the Official Gazette, an area could be declared ecologically critical area and restrictions applied to the discharge of pollutants in the air, water, land, sea and so on. Inspections on premises ,suspected of polluting the ecosystem, could be ordered and seizure of equipment, materials and samples of polluted resources seized upon. An Environmental Clearance Certificate from the Director General must be issued before initiating any commercial or industrial activity and environmental guidelines provided and largely distributed and enforced in order to prevent ecological disasters.

    La ley en cuestión prohíbe la producción, importación, comercialización y uso de bolsas de plástico para el embalaje de mercaderías, que no sean reutilizables, y regula la aplicación de medidas encaminadas a reducir progresivamente la cantidad de bolsas de plástico en el medio ambiente o a sustituirlas por bolsas degradables y/o biodegradables que sean compatibles con la minimización de la generación y la eliminación de residuos. Condiciona la fabricación e importación de bolsas de plástico a la autorización previa del Servicio Central de Medio Ambiente. Asimismo, establece los montos de las multas aplicables en caso de incumplimiento. Dispone la realización de una campaña de sensibilización dentro de un plazo máximo de 60 días a partir de su entrada en vigor.

    This Law may be cited as the Waste (Amendment) Law of 2012 and shall be read as one with the Waste Law of 2011 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Law"). The principal Law and the present Law shall be read as one and will be referred to as the Waste Laws of 2011-2012. The present law brings forth minor amendments to article 54 to the principal law by replacing paragraph (e) and by adding a new section (2A).

The Law also provides for the implementation at a national level of Regulation (EC) No. 1013/2006 on shipments of waste, as last amended with Commission Regulation (EU) No. 664/2011.
