Abstract/Citation
These Regulations are intended to give effect in part to the Merchant Shipping (Minimum Standards) Convention, 1976 No. 147 of the ILO. The Regulations require ships registered in the State (other than fishing vessels and pleasure craft) to carry a gangway, an accommodation ladder, safety nets, bulwark ladders, handholds and guardrails in certain circumstances. A ship may be detained if it does not carry the necessary access equipment.
