Chapter I contains provisions concerning scope of application and entry into force of the Act.
Chapter II covers Child Protection and functions of the secretariat.
Chapter III deals with Child Protection Councils in the provinces.
Chapter IV concerns medical care of children and includes provisions concerning periodic medical examinations, right to breast feeding and right to psychological care.
Chapter V contains measures with respect to the establishment and running of nurseries.
Chapter VI deals with education.
Chapter VII provides for the cultural welfare of children including establishment of libraries and the prohibition of certain publications and shows.
Chapter VIII deals with the employment of children and refers to the Labour Code of 1997 (section 31). It prohibits the employment of children in any forced labour, sexual, pornographic exploitation, illegal trafficking and their exploitation or use in armed conflicts (section 32). It also sets out the daily hours of work for children, which is not to exceed six hours with one or two rest periods whose total is a minimum of one hour. A child is not able to work more than four consecutive hours and can not stay at the workplace for a period which exceeds seven hours (section 33(a)). Also deals with the handing of wages to a child (section 34) and the training of children (35).
Chapter IX deals with care of children with special needs.
Chapter X concerns the care of delinquent children including welfare and reform measures.
Chapter XI contains procedures for the judicial examination and treatment of minors including arrest, examination, trial and sentencing.
Chapter XII contains provisions on general provisions on penalties for delinquent children.
