Second Region

Amends Social Security (International Agreements) Act, 1999. Reviews agreement on social security between Australia and the Republic of Portugal of 30 April 1999. Part I sets forth definitions, determines legislative and personal scope of agreement, and provides for equality of treatment, voluntary social insurance and export of benefits. Part II regulates application of legislation and decisions of social security coverage. Part III contains provisions for avoiding double coverage, and Part IV provisions relating to benefits.
