Second Region

Sets forth charter of basic rights and freedoms. Protected rights and freedoms include: life, liberty and security of the person; freedom of conscience, belief and observance of religious and political doctrines; freedom of expression; right to seek, distribute or disseminate to any other person, information, opinions and ideas through any media; freedom of peaceful assembly and association; freedom of movement; due process of law; equality before the law; fair and humane treatment by any public authority or essential entity in the exercise of any of its functions; freedom from discrimination of any kind such as race, social class, colour, religion, gender or political preference; enjoyment and beneficial ownership of property; respect of private and family life, privacy of home and of communication; rights of the child; and participation in elections.
