Resumen/cita: Law to implement the European Directive on the realization the principle of equal treatment. The aim of this law is to prevent or to eliminate discrimination on grounds of race, sex, religion, handicap, age or sexual identity. Discrimination is not permitted with respect to employment, access to work counsel, further training, affiliation to a workers' union, social protection, social benefits, training and education and access to public goods and services.
Discrimination is permitted if it is due to the nature of the work that is to be done, as long as it is proportional. Discrimination by age is also admissible if it has a legitimate and justified aim.
The employer has to take measures to prevent discrimination. In case of discrimination, the worker has a right to complain, and he is entitled to compensation. These provisions also apply to civil servants.
