Abstract/Citation: This Act provides for a variety of matters relative to legal status of and rights in sea-going vessels, navigation, carriage of goods at sea and related matters. In particular Part 11 deals with matters related to the employment of seafarers including minimum age, payment of wages, termination of employment, vacation allowance and holidays, working hours, repatriation, discipline on board ship, freedom of association and negotiation of labour contracts.
