Abstract/Citation
This act establishes English as the official language in Alberta. Members of the Legislative Assembly are granted the right to speak either French or English in the Assembly. French or English may be used in oral communication in all Alberta courts dealing with provincial offences.
Section 2 provides that all Acts, Ordinances and Regulations and other legal actions, proceedings etc. enacted prior to the coming into force of this Act are declared valid notwithstanding that they were enacted, printed and published in English only. Section 4 provides any person with the right to use English or French in oral communication in proceedings before certain Courts. Members of the legislature of Alberta may use English or French in the Assembly.
