Comprehensive legislation relating to immigration, and in particular to remove the need for persons who are in New Zealand unlawfully to be dealt with by way of criminal prosecution. Divided into 7 parts. Part 1 deals with visas and permits. Part 2 provides for persons in New Zealand unlawfully. Part 3 makes provisions for deportation of persons threatening national security, and suspected terrorists; Part 4 for deportation of criminal offenders. Part 5 regulates appeals. Part 6 governs arrivals and depatures; Part 6a refugee determinations. Part 7 contains miscellaneous provisions.
