Second Region

Deals with various aspects of social security of self-employed persons. Divided into 4 parts. Part 1 contains preliminary provisions and definitions. Parts 2 and 3 regulate scope of application of regulations, as well as registration and contributions. Regulations apply to persons who (a) are between ages of eighteen and sixty years, (b) are currently resident in Belize, (c) are gainfully occupied in Belize and are not employed persons, and (d) have opted to join the Social Security Scheme. Contribution payable by self-employed person shall amount to 7 of declared weekly income. Part 4 contains miscellaneous provisions.
