Abstract/Citation: Consolidates and amends laws relating to the sugar industry. Part II provides for democratisation of ownership in the sugar industry, and establishes Sugar Investment Trust. Part III contains provisions relating to efficiency and viability of the sugar industry. Deals with mergers and take-overs, incentives to planters and millers, modernisation and agricultural diversification reserve, and lease of land to metayers. Part IV provides for conditions of employment and incentives to workers. Also provides for voluntary retirement scheme. Finally, Part V makes provision for land conversion.
