Abstract/Citation: Amends the Magistrates' Courts Act, 1970 so as to increase the jurisdiction of Chief Magistrates and Magistrates Grade 1, to abolish the procedure of preliminary proceedings in criminal trials and to render certain serious offences, such as rape and the issuing of false cheques, bailable only by the High Court.
