Second Region

Provides the Saint Lucia Constitution. Chapter I provides protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, including protection of the right to life, liberty, freedom of conscience, expression, assembly and association, as well as protection from inhuman treatment, slavery, forced labour, and deprivation of property. Chapter II concerns the post of the Governor-General; Chapter III the Parliament; Chapter IV the Executive. Regulations affecting the public service, including teachers, are set forth in Chapter VI. Chapter VII governs citizenship and Chapter VIII provides judicial provisions. Existing laws shall remain in effect unless modified or abrogated (Schedule 2, s. 2).
