Abstract/Citation
Provides comprehensive regulations for merchant shipping under Liberian Maritime Law. Chapters I through VI regulate safety, documentation and identification of vessels, ship mortgages and radio. Chapter VII provides for inspection of vessels by nautical inspectors. Chapter IX governs the investigations of accidents and deaths aboard ships. Chapter X is devoted to seafarers. Inter alia, this chapter sets forth minimum manning requirements for vessels and provides regulations relating to medical supplies, survival crafts, fire drills and accident prevention. Section 10.325 requires medical certification for every person employed on a ship. Owners of Liberian vessels are required to maintian third party liability insurance (s. 10.342). S. 10.359 regulates conciliation, mediation and arbitration procedures.
