Abstract/Citation: An Act to extend full protection under labour legislation to part-time workers who are normally expected to work for at least 8 hours a week and have completed 13 weeks' service. For the first time, part-time workers are included in the operation of the Redundancy Payments Acts (see Legislative Series, 1967-Ire.1), the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Acts (LS, 1973-Ire.2), the Worker Participation (State Enterprises) Acts, the Unfair Dismissals Act (LS, 1981-Ire.1B), the Maternity Protection of Employees Act (LS, 1981-1A) and the Protection of Employees (Employers' Insolvency) Acts. These workers now also enjoy pro-rata leave entitlements under the Holidays Act (LS, 1961-Ire.1). (Labour Law Documents 1991/3, 1991-IRL 1)
